Hey fam! I know that planning a family photoshoot can feel a little overwhelming — from picking outfits to making sure the kids (and adults!) are in the mood. But don’t worry — I’ve got you. Whether this is your first family shoot or your fifth, here’s everything you need to know to help the day go smoothly and beautifully.

1. Outfits: Keep it Coordinated, Not Matchy


Choosing what to wear can be the trickiest part — but it doesn’t have to be. I always suggest coordinating your colors rather than matching exactly. Think soft, earthy tones or pastel palettes — colors that blend and complement each other. Layers and textures (like knits or linen) photograph beautifully.

2. Prep the Kiddos (and Grown-Ups)


Tell your kids that this is going to be FUN — not a big formal thing. Make sure they’re well-rested and have a snack before we shoot. For younger kids, bring a favorite toy or lovey to keep them comfy.

3. What to Bring


Here’s a quick checklist:

    •    Snacks and water (for everyone!)

    •    Wipes or tissues

    •    Backup outfits for littles (just in case)

    •    Anything meaningful you want captured — a blanket, heirloom toy, or something unique to your family
